This Thursday (October 27th) night is a special night in Charlottesville. Sure, there have been lots of great shows in town lately. But it’s not every day that a big rock show comes to town. So come out to the Satellite Ballroom on Thursday and seize this opportunity. Five bands (5!) will take the stage. Rah Bras, VCR, Measles Mumps & Rubella, Mae Shi and Cataract Camp.

Rah Bras put on a fun and crazy live show. I saw them a couple times a few years ago, and I’m really excited to see them again. They just released a new LP, WHOHM, on Lovitt Records, their first full length since 2001’s Ruy Blas. You can check out a couple of their older songs at Epitonic.

VCR will fit well with Rah Bras, as both bands bring synth-driven dancy craziness. Check out some of their songs at purevolume.

Measles, Mumps and Rubella will release their debut full length Fantastic Success on Febuary 21st, 2006. In the past they have released an Ian MacKaye/Don Zientara produced 7″ on their own label and a CD-single on Troubleman Unlimited

The Mae Shi are currently on a very extensive US tour in support of 2004’s Terror Bird on 5RC. You can read various descriptions of them here and you can listen for yourself here.

Cataract Camp will represent C-ville in this rock free-for-all. Come early because you definitely want to see these guys. They are fresh out of the studio after laying down their debut album with former D-plan frontman Travis Morrison and Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios. You can check out some of their demo songs here.

Doors open at 8pm $5 in advance/$8 at the door. You can order tickets here.
