BON (first floor of Pink Warehouse, next to South St.) hosts a great bill tonight, really reasonable ticket price. Hometown hero Diane Cluck has been getting posi-vibes all over the country for her latest record, her first in eight years. Cluck has continued to grow and mature in a way that suggests a creative capacity beyond fear of commercial failure–a spirit that gives enormous power to her stripped-down style and eloquently succinct harmonic unorthodoxies. Joining her on the bill is her partner, Ken, who does Ken’s Last Ever Radio Extravaganza, simultaneously broadcast on WTJU and WFMU (anyone know how that works?). It’s a sonically diverse audio collage, more akin to visual art than music perhaps. A fantastic show for a very reasonable price on what will hopefully be a gorgeous evening. $5 at BON, starts at 8pm.

The difficulty with student groups, particularly the good ones such as OFFscreen and SPICMACAY, is that they’re often impossible to pin down. Students come and go, programming is inconsistent. Luckily, I spotted an ad for SPICMACAY’s quasi-annual Indian Classical Night (Mesmerizing Indian dance, vocal, and instrumental performances) in the C-ville this week (interestingly, not in the schedule of events). Friends who attended this two years ago gushed profusely about how great it was, including the banging free traditional Indian food served at intermission! As I did not attend, I can’t directly attest to how great it is, but I plan on checking this out.

Tomorrow (March 22nd) free at the UVA Chemistry Building Auditorium from 6-8:30pm (open to the public)
