TONIGHT Honky Tonk at Black Moto

Continuing the Christmas-named-not-really-Christmas-related-but-still-great-events this holiday weekend is Deck the Halls with Honky Tonk happening at the Wooly Mammoth (formerly Black Market Moto Saloon) at the intersection of Meade Ave and Market St. Bands include (but perhaps not limited to) Sabra’s Honky Tonk and also The LeeRoys.

Sabra is a powerhouse local musician delivering on all different kind of genres. She previously played with the fantastic Big Sky country band (frequent performers at Blue Moon) before starting her own operation. She also hosts ‘Around This Town,’ a folk show on WTJU featuring acts in or coming through Charlottesville.

The LeeRoys are another crew to guarantee a good time. My brother owen is the drummer and is known to hold down a nasty four on the floor. The band leader is none other than the handsome–and also, secondarily, highly talented–Lee Johnson. Not sure what the rest of the current line-up is but may include Joe Adkins, Charlie Bell and/or Ian Gilliam. Playing the music that was the closest white people ever got to soul.

Show should be good, come out and support the Wooly Mammoth and warm the spirit with some good tunes. Show starts at 8pm and rumor is the cover is $5. Post any other events in the comments!
