Weekend events + NEW Weird Mob music video

August 10th, 2013 · 3 Comments · By

Tonight (Saturday):

Adam Smith & Thomas Dean will be DJing at Mono Loco starting at 10 p.m.

Two of Charlottesville’s loudest, shredding-est bands make their return home after a short tour of the south with a show at the Main Street Annex (8 p.m., $8).

Sharkopath is a newer punk band with a post-hardcore edge. Listen to the track “Mac’s Favorite” for an example of their sludgy tendencies. Their album is up for free download on their Bandcamp site, so check it out before Sunday.

Corsair recently signed to the metal label Shadow King Records, and have been gaining attention outside of Charlottesvile for their 70s hard rock-influenced brand of metal.

Stonehenge from Harrisonburg will open the show.

Weird Mob has a new music video! It’s for their track “Rarebit Fiends” off their They’re a Weird Mob EP. They are planning on releasing more music through their Hibernator Gigs label before the end of this year. In the meantime, check out this video from Light House Studio. It’s a short little story about a magical tea party dream that leads to a Weird Mob gig. The video’s earnest quirkiness of the video perfectly complements Weird Mob’s sound.

these shows sound reaal cool. one note: sharkopath has been around for years, just lying in wait over the past while so it’s understandable to think they’re new. because sharks can’t stop moving or they’ll die (right?) it must have been an anxious bout of time.

Thanks for posting the vid, Joy! We are all about earnest quirk, that’s for sure!

I’m not familiar with the work of Mr. Ernest Quirk, is his stuff good?
