1. Eternal Summers + The Love Language + Ducktails + The Mingsleys at the Tea Bazaar (8 p.m., $8)

Ducktails (a side project of Matthew Mondanile from Real Estate) has just been added to the bill. Their new album reminds me a lot of the Fresh & Only’s latest, Long Slow Dance, or even Lotus Plaza… really solid, guitar-driven indie rock. Eternal Summers are a beloved dream-pop-punk group from Roanoke, VA. Their second album Correct Behavior met with praise from listeners as they expanded their lo-fi sound into something more developed. The Mingsleys open; The Love Language headline.

Please note, the first band starts at 8, so get to the show early!

2. Bella Morte + Lauren Hoffman + Synthetic Division at the Jefferson Theater (8 p.m., $10/$12)

And, because there’s always something more to learn about Charlottesville’s music scene: There’s an article and interview over at C-Ville Weekly about local goth group Bella Morte‘s long and successful career, spanning nearly two decades from 1996 until the present. They’ve recently released a best-of album, and this show is the record’s release party.

I like your casual, unremarked-upon inclusion of the fact that Ducktails is the “secret guest” at the show tonight. does anyone have the story about how that came together? I heard Kelly had a hand in making it happen?

does anyone rmemeber a house show in late ’05 or early ’06, over at that old punk/noise house off JPA, where ZZZs played? Adam Smith and Malcolm Perkins’ band, for which that was their first and last show? I had totally forgotten / never realized this, but Smith reminded me a while back that Matt-Ducktails sat in as their drummer for that set; because his pre- Real Estate band (also feat. ATN) was on tour / on the bill that night. (it was real good; first time I heard Smith get noisy, I think)

in case you’re unclear how much time I spend on twitter these days, I just tried to “favorite” Coogan’s comment.
