saturday house shows

You’re gonna have to make a choice again. The good news is that you win either way. And I might hit up both these shows, if I can.

At Magnolia House:

Marmalakes: folk rock from Austin, TX.

TAFT: indie rock from Brooklyn/Austin.

Big Air (Charlottesville): 90s indie garage rock. Featuring Greg Sloan of Dwight Howard Johnson and Rob Dodson of The Fire Tapes. Big Air is promising more recordings on WarHen eventually, along with a full-length from the Fire Tapes in the fall.

Show starts at 9. Bring $5-10 for the bands. Here’s the Facebook event.

That’s a scan-able QR code on the poster there, folks. Grotta House is relatively new in terms of hosting shows, but they’ve put together a great lineup for Saturday night as well. On the bill are…

Will Bollinger, minimalist/improv guitarist from C’ville/RVA.

Colamo, a guitar/trumpet duo that plays experimental art rock.

NU Depth, Dylan Mulshine’s experimental dance outfit. He’s opening forĀ Dan Deacon at the Jefferson on July 25, as well as starting a summer tour of the east coast/south.

and a DJ set from Corrigan Blanchfield.

Show starts at 9. Bring money for the bands. Here’s the Facebook event.
