Alex Bleeker and the Freaks MOVED TO THE BOX

March 6th, 2013 · 3 Comments · By

If we don’t all get snowed in, there is going to be an excellent show at the Tea Bazaar. { UPDATE: this show has been moved to the Box, and is now free! }

Alex Bleeker and the Freaks are touring down to SXSW and will be playing some new songs from the upcoming LP How Far Away. Many of you know Bleeker as the bassist for the super chill and dreamy Real Estate, but his side project has a lot country and classic rock influences. Also, one of his Freaks is Jacob, a Charlottesville native, former member of the Nailgun team, and the guy behind Holy Smokes Booking.
The first single from the new album can be heard here.

Also on the bill is Charlottesville’s own Steve Snider, whose solo project is named Golden Glasses. Steve is probably the best drummer in Charlottesville and is always a pleasure to see. Finally, Baltimore-based Weyes Blood rounds out the bill. Originally Weyes Bluhd, Natalie Weyes Blood plays haunting lo-fi folk-y electronic music. Many of you know that I’ve been going through a huge Chelsea Wolfe stage recently and Weyes Blood seems to be a very close, but not as terrifying, comparison.  { UPDATE: the other two bands have dropped off the bill, it’ll just be Bleeker and the Freaks at the Box }

$7. Tea Bazaar. 9 PM. { FREE SHOW, NOW MOVED TO THE BOX }
