Nettles and Tristen

A couple very nice musical acts return to the Tea Bazaar tonight.

For those who have missed her prior appearances here, Tristen is a songwriter from Nashville with a gorgeous voice and charming songwriting sensibility. Nothing too flashy or over-the-top, just plenty of solid country-laced songs.

And headlining this evening is a local group called Nettles, who have flown somewhat (and surprisingly) under the radar. The band is led by Guion Pratt and features a cast of talented folks, including members of The Hill & Wood. The vibe is serene indie-folk in the vein of Sufjan Stevens and Iron & Wine (though Nettles are way more interesting than most everybody else who’s doing that sort of thing right now).

Anyway, it’s on the early side tonight, starting at 9PM with Tristen on first and it’s a $7 cover.

afterwards, there’s also Radio Bistro tonight — remember when Sarah and Jessica and Sarah were the Three Witches of Halloween? it was a lot of fun, and they’re doing it again tonight (which I guess would make them… the Three French Hens of Advent? yes? no?) so that should be good spot to grab a drink after the show (since the Tea House closes at 12 and the C&O is open til 2!)
