Surprise Tea House Show Tonight

There’s a surprise show happening at the Tea Bazaar tonight! UK band Chapter 24 will be appearing, with locals Left & Right. After befriending Invisible Hand at their show together in Philly a couple nights ago, Chapter 24 decided to spend their day off here in C-ville. They sound pretty badass – surfy punk-rock art-pop with gloomy vocals from singer Claire Smith. Pretty excited to see them! Here’s a nice video for one of their catchier numbers (some of their other songs are a little more loose/unorthodox, which I personally like a bit more, but this one’s fun too):

You may be familiar with Left & Right by now, but maybe not. Like The Fire Tapes who James mentioned the other day, they’re among Charlottesville’s better and more under-appreciated local acts. Well, here’s another opportunity to appreciate them! Lots of big, rich guitars and a dead-on rhythm section over some good, solid songwriting. Should be pleasing to the ear of anybody who’s been a fan of seminal 90s indie bands like Pavement, Built To Spill, etc. Count me in for that!

$5 cover? $5 suggested donation? Something like that. Come see a rad band on practically no notice and if you can’t put $5 together, pay what you can. They come from overseas, for goodness sake, that’s a great deal! ‘Doors’ at 9:30pm, music at 10pm.
