Red Rattles Album Release Show

Charlottesville’s Red Rattles are dropping their new album ‘City Dogs’ tonight at the Tea Bazaar. Maybe you’ve caught Red Rattles playing around town from The Box to The Festy to The Southern and many places in between. Singer Luke Nutting (formerly of Six Day Bender) does a really effective too-cool-for-school gravely vocal deliver that carries the otherwise stripped down, straightforward garage duo. Definitely worth checking out for anybody who digs the Black Keys or other soulful blues-rock bands. Here is (and this is a first for the Tea House I believe) a promotional video they made for the show, which was shot in the condemned house where they recorded the album:

Opening up is Pujol, from Nashville, who are a pretty accomplished group, having released their most recent album on Saddle Creek Records, worked in the studio with Jack White, and generally pounded the pavement as a touring outfit. Nashville’s definitely experiencing a bit of a boom as far as the garage-rock scene there goes, with a bunch of bands like JEFF the Brotherhood, Turbo Fruits, Heavy Cream, Bad Cop, and others coming out of the woodwork with guitars blazing. So if you dig any of those bands, Pujol will certainly be up your alley.

And opening up is a new local band I’m pretty excited about. They’re called The Firetrucks, and are (to the best of my knowledge) Charlottesville’s youngest punk rock outfit. They played the Tea Bazaar in August with No Brainer and put on a really fun, energetic, enjoyable show and I’m looking forward to seeing them again.

Show starts around 9PM and the cover tonight is $7.
