Bella Morte CD release tonight!

Here’s the latest in a series of shows at the Southern that I didn’t know about until 24 hours beforehand: Charlottesville’s resident goth band, beloved by eyeliner-wearing horror fans the world over, Bella Morte are about to release their eighth album, “Before the Flood” via Metropolis Records. It’s kind of crazy to think these guys have been a band for 15 years now; I remember seeing their very first show, at a Battle of the Bands in the basement of the then-new Water St Parking Garage way back in 1996 (right around the time most “Twilight” fans were being conceived, I guess)

The CD release party is at the Southern tonight; the opener is a band called Oh So, which I believe is the newest project of J.J. Williams, organizer of √úmlaut and formerly of the Basement Bhaktis and numerous other bands; at least I’m pretty sure that’s him, the dude has changed his name a half-dozen times since we were in 9th grade together and he was called David Allen. Anyhow, the doors open at 8:00pm, the show is all-ages, tickets are $8 at the door, and there’s rumors it might sell out (they are the world’s most famous contemporary goth band, after all) so maybe you might wanna show up early!

thanks for the clarification, Dave. hm, for some reason I thought both you & your brother were both involved with Umlaut for a while but maybe I made that up. anyway, hope the show went well! I had to work late and couldn’t make it…
