Sunday night

There’s a few shows going on tonight, if you’re looking for a way to spend your Sunday evening;

Eleanor Murray, Chris Campanelli, and Danny Zezeski are playing at the Garage this evening; Eleanor Murray is on tour from Olympia WA, a town known for it’s good music; Chris Campanelli is a local folker and a Garage regular, and Danny Zezeski is known for, among other things, being co-frontman of the recently disbanded Northern Diver (rumors of his move to Philadelphia were, apparently, exaggerated.) That’s at 8pm across from Lee Park, and you should bring a few $ for Eleanor’s gas money.

There’s also a show at Magnolia this evening, whose lineup I have not exactly been able to confirm; the Magnolia webpage says it’s Nathan K (“Michigan folk god”) and Ross Bollinger (“Cville folk god”) along with Nelly Kate and Teen Dreams; however, MaryLynn assures me that Nelly Kate and Teen Dreams are NOT in fact playing tonight. One of Dylan’s tweets from this morning indicates “T’S A CAKEWALK, IT’S JOE OVERTON//ROSS BOLLINGER//NATHAN K” so maybe that’s accurate? Or maybe not. You can probably get the accurate line-up info on their FaceBook page, however I am not able to do that myself because I don’t have a facebook. Also, it’s a Birthday Party! So, like, remember that you are attending a birthday party in someone’s Home, and not just going to see some bands at a bar or whatever.

{UPDATE Andy Clarifies: “the lineup for tonight is as follows * nathan k * ross bollinger * joe overton // also in between sets me and dylan playing some bounce songs off an ipod and there will be a cake walk // making them cakes as we speak // starts round nightish” Thanks Andy!}

Lastly, all the way out in Crozet, ManorLady is playing a show at the Crozet Mudhouse; you may be familiar with ManorLady, they are a local shoegazer band who also have video stuff and laptops. They’re joined by a group from Roanoke called the Situationist (singular sic), whose name may come from the radical 1960’s French art/politics movement, but their website shows them dressed in cowboy hats and calls them “Transcendentalcore,” so who knows. I have not been able to determine what time that one starts or what the cover charge is.

    thanks Andy.

    PS I also have my radio show late tonight… it’s another week where I spent WAY too much on music, but also I’m not sure how much of the WTJU equipment is actually working right now so I have no idea that I’ll be playing. But, uh, y’all should tune in if you’re up!
