Heavy Cream & No Brainer tonight!

Tonight’s Tea Bazaar show only got announced a few days ago, but it’s definitely one you won’t want to miss!

Heavy Cream are an awesome gang of snotty troublemaking punk girls (plus one dude) from Nashville, and they’re one of the funnest live acts I’ve seen in the past year or so. They’ve been through town a few times before — most recently opening for the Vivian Girl side-project La Sera back in March — and they’ve just gotten better and better every time. I’m excited to hear them again!

The opening act is local band No Brainer; I caught their set for the first time at the Box a week ago, and despite my wariness of anything resembling 90’s pop-punk, I actually really enjoyed them. You might recognize their frontman Dan Sebring from his tenure in Drunk Tigers, and there’s a chance you might even recognize Nathaniel the drummer from his appearances with Miami Nights.

That show starts at 9pm and the cover charge is a mere $5!

Other items of note this evening include:

Bobby St. Ours, playing his low-down brand of austere country-folk at The Garage; that one’s at 8pm, and I think it’s “free” although perhaps they’ll pass a hat;

…and much later in the evening there’s a show at the Magnolia house; the headliner is a band called Satanized; Andy says they are “philly High energy noise rock from philly who recently last year put out a sick split 7inch with aids wolf” — and at one point I think ROYGBIV was supposed to be on the bill, but now it looks like they’re not gonna make it and the two other acts will actually be Neuro Shock, a “local high school grunge band,” and Comparative Anatomy, whose inimitable and preposterous powerpoint-grindcore (recommended for fans of Captain Ahab and Otto Von Schirach) should go over really well in a spot like the Magnolia living room. Not sure if that one’s starting earlier, or if they’re gonna bump it ’til late because of the Tea House show…

    Boy, been awhile since we played that one. The newer videos are a lot more detailed and streamlined. All we need to do is find a way to sound clearer live. It seems like the louder we get, the more messy it sounds, especially the drums/sounds.

    You should talk to Manorlady- they upped the game on their PA a while back with great results, now their drum machine slams.
