Two shows tonight; more Satellite activism

Tonight there’s a show at the venue-on-everyone’s-mind, Satellite Ballroom.  It’s a CD release party for Six Day Bender, a local band that have been getting a lot of positive attention recently. I haven’t yet had the chance to check out their sound, but I’m told they mix bluegrass and rock pretty effectively. The opening act is the ever-reliable Sarah White; sounds like a good show. Tickets are $8 at the door.

I should mention that some associates of mine will be there tonight handing out flyers and putting together a mailing list to try to expand the already-prevalent wave of community support for the Satellite Ballroom, whose imminent closure is discussed in detail below. We’re not Ballroom employees, just a group of concerned local citizens trying to help out. If you want to know more about it what’s going on and what you can do to change it, you can stop by and talk to one of them; or you can e-mail us at satelliteunite at gmail dot com.

The reason I can’t be there myself is that I’ll be working at The Tea House, where The Easy Tease are playing.  Their sound is described as “burlesque indie-rock cabaret,” and the cover is cheap (under $5). It’ll probably start 10pm-10:30ish, I’m guessing.
