(The Dodos)

The Dodos are a two-piece, driving, catchy, artsy folk act from San Francisco, known for their opening slots supporting Akron/Family and Jennifer Gentle, as well as for their acclaimed solo shows.  They played at the Tea Bazaar last fall, and put on a surprisingly great show; don’t miss ’em this time.

I believe there may be an opening act; more details when I figure it out. The show’s at 10pm, $5 cover at the door.

the opener was Silje Nas — they were nice folks from somewhere in Europe (judging by the accents), they started out sort of whispery-folky and then got faster and weirder. I ended up liking it a lot — sorry I couldn’t get their name on the site in time.

PS also, the Dodos themselves were stellar; it was a good turn-out, too. nice folks, solid show, good crowd.

Update: the new Dodos record is really great. It’s understated and subtle while still being really catchy, and it’s somehow both energetic and sublime. Tracks 2-4 have basically been on constant repeat in my car since the show. In short, I recommend it.
