at the Tea House tonight: garage rock from Nashville, plus me

July 30th, 2010 · 1 Comment · By

There’s a Tea Bazaar show tonight which should be a fun way to spend a Friday night; the line-up is Natural Child and DJ Hummingbird Feeder.

Natural Child are from Nashville; Jacob says “they’re one of the bands out of the apparently booming Nashville garage rock scene (a la Jeff the Brotherhood/Heavy Cream/Turbo Fruits/Bad Cop)” — in fact, I believe the band recently toured with the Brotherhood. Plus, you know, Heavy Cream played a pretty good set here last week, so… these are comparisons that make me hopeful. (Blair of Speakertree apparently speaks highly of them; actually he was invited to share the bill tonight, but sadly he couldn’t make it) Anyhow it should be a fun set of garage rock tunes to kick off your weekend.

The other half of the bill, DJ Hummingbird Feeder, is… uh, well that’s me, actually. I’m gonna be playing some mellow toe-tappers to start the evening, and then maybe we’ll see if we’re all in the mood for a proper dance party after the band’s set.  It should be a lot of fun! (should perhaps note that I’m also DJing at the party at The Bridge tomorrow night, but that’s not ’til 1am and it’ll be a drastically different set of music…)

SO you should come on down around 8pm or 8:30 or so, have a drink and hear some good tunes and say hi. The cover charge is a mere $5, and we’ll be going ’til about Midnight. See you there!

Also, at the Garage: Dylan Gilbert – the Charlotte based indie-folk player returns with his band. 8:00-10:00PM, donations accepted.
