Drink Up Buttercup

Here’s a little late-breaking blog post for tonight’s activities. Philadelphia’s Drink Up Buttercup is at the Tea Bazaar tonight. You may remember them from several months ago at The Jefferson with We Are Scientists, or if you were really on top of things you may have caught them at the Tea Bazaar last fall. They’re really quite good, sort of a bubbly electro-pop psych-folk ensemble, perhaps comparable to Animal Collective at times.

In addition, there are two excellent and very worth showing-up-early-for support acts that you may know already: Cinnamon Band, who are catchy, melodic, and astonishingly full-sounding for a duo — certainly one of Virginia’s best bands — and Tereu Tereu from DC, another group you may have seen grace the Tea Bazaar stage in recent months. This one is $7 and starts at 9PM.

There are also shows occuring tonight at South Street (Jesse Chong), at The Southern (J. Roddy Walston and the Business), and at Maya (George Turner Trio). I don’t know a thing about any of those, so I encourage anybody with the goods on those events to step up in the comments section!

    J. Roddy Walston and the Business are a recent Vagrant signing and they play rowdy piano-based Southern rock.
