(Jim Waive and the Young Divorcees)

Jim Waive and the Young Divorcees will have a release party for their second album tonight at the Satellite Ballroom. I really enjoy their live show, and their first record had some fine moments, so I’m excited to hear the new one. Here’s a truncated mp3 of my favorite song of theirs, “Fool” — it’s ideal music for crying into your beer, post-Valentine’s.

The opening act is The Acorn Sisters, a.k.a. Sarah White (of and the Pearls fame) and Sian Richards (who functions here as a knockout backup singer and comic foil). I do believe Sarah has a new EP out as well, “Sweetheart,” of which the title track is a re-recording of what seems to be her breakaway hit (although I’ve always preferred “We Have a Song” and “Sarah Arizona” … she’s certainly got no shortage of great songs).

Also, at Dust, there’s a night of techno and dub with an impressive line-up of acts: D-Bug, Paravoice, and Jorge HM from Guadalajara, MX, and locals Measax, Docindo.Dorsey, Clinc, Jason Fellows and Fateo Moglia, and DJ Atom. It runs from 9pm to 4am, and there’s a $5 cover. More info is available here.

Just got hold of Sarah’s new EP yesterday and it’s pretty sweet (no pun intended). Ted Pitney of King Wilkie helps out with nice guitar work and backing vocals.

Also, you can read about Jim Waive and the Young Divorcees recording their new album (and watch a live acoustic version of the title track) here.
