There are tons of events this Friday night:

Six Organs of Admittance

(six organs of admittance)

On the UVa end of town, the eclectic and transcendent Six Organs of Admittance are playing at the UVa Chapel, along with newly-reformed Charlottesville noise-rock legends Grand Banks. Doors are at 8, and the show begins at 9. The cover charge is $8.

Before that, UVa music professors Richard Will and Melvin Butler, and Ph.D. candidate Michael Bishop will examine Southern heritages in American music, including country, gospel and rock, in a lecture entitled “Southern Music, American Music” at the UVa Art Museum. The event is free and begins at 4pm; following that, the final reception for their current exhibition extends from 5:30 to 7:30.

Pinko Communoids

(pinko communoids)

Over on the east side (aka Downtown), the HzCollective will be presenting NanoHz No. 8 at The Bridge, as the penultimate event in Audio January month. There will be “restrained and savory improvised noises” by Vslykon + Dang, Sadjeljko, Shrey Tone and Pinko Communoids. This runs from 7 to 10pm, and there’s no cover charge.

Afterwards, you can check out Southeast Engine and Super Vacations at the Tea Bazaar; it should get started right around the time that the Bridge show ends. There may be a small cover charge, probably $3-$5ish.

There are four more shows coming up Saturday night as well; it looks like a pretty busy weekend.

I don’t have one, but you could try asking some of the folks at Tyrannosaurus Rock or Danny from Satellite Ballroom, as they’re the ones who set up the show…

T-Rock’s e-mail is tyrannosaurusrock at gmail dot com
and Satellite’s contact info is on their website.

Looks like maybe Quiet My Dear is opening instead of the Supervacations at tea house? Or maybe both? I’m not sure.
