also: Bridge silent films / last-minute Caninos

In addition to the Tickley Feather / Birdlips / band formerly known as Eat Forever show at the Tea Bazaar tonight, which is detailed below, there are also two other noteworthy things going on which didn’t make their way onto the calendar:

First of all, there’s a Film Screening at The Bridge, in which we will watch the Hanukkah-appropriate film Der Golem, the 1915 classic of silent German cinema, presented with an original score by local fellow Jonathan Zorn — not to be confused with the New York jazz guy, Jonathan is a cville-based electronic musician. You may have heard him opening for Blevin Blectum and Wobbly this summer, or providing a score for a Fritz Lang film at The Bridge last year, or you may even have heard him singing garage surf songs in French and Japanese at The Box last night… Anyway, that screening is at 7pm, and it costs a mere $5. It’s also the first Bridge film event wholly without my input, since I quit the series a few weeks ago, but I’ll be there tonight in the audience for sure, since it sounds like a really cool screening. {FYI the C-ville Weekly also has a big ol’ cover story on The Bridge in this week’s issue, out today.}

I also just got an email from the ever-informative Gary Canino about a last-minute Caninos show tonight; he says: “Caninos are playing a last-minute show tonight at [address removed]. It’s our first show since before Halloween. It’s an open party, they told us to invite whoever we want, but I’m still not sure if it’s a good idea to put up the address […] We’re also probably playing an X-mas song. Hint: A very Bruce Springsteen X-mas song.” Thank, Gary!
