Tonight Kate Starr will have her release party at Gravity Lounge. Tickets are $7 and the first 100 people get a special autographed edition of Starr’s new EP, Questing Through Chaos. The Naked Puritans and Sally Rose will also play.

Also, Rose Hill Drive and Earl Greyhound will be a Satellite Ballroom. This show is presented by 106.1 The Corner.

And, at The Bridge: Remembering Arthur — An Homage to Arthur Lipsett, hosted by Virginia Film Festival program director Richard Herskowitz. 8pm, $5. Here’s a description:

“Hosted by Richard Herskowitz, Remembering Arthur is an intimate portrait of a visionary collage filmmaker, his body of work and the troubled last years of his life. George Lucas has said: “In terms of understanding the power of sound and picture relationships, there’s no one better than Arthur Lipsett.” The honesty and access of the film is a result of director Martin Lavut’s friendship with Lipsett and those of his inner circle, including National Film Board of Canada producers Colin Low and Donald Brittain. This event is co-sponsored by The Virginia Film Society; for more info please visit www.vafilm.com.”

One thing I accidentally left out of my look back on the past four years: the opportunity I had to sit down and talk with renowned composer Alvin Lucier. He was one of the nicest and smartest people I’ve ever met, and meeting him really inspired me.
