Zee Avi

Tonight the Tea Bazaar hosts Malaysian songwriter Zee Avi. Zee plays sort of lazy day folky jazz songs. She’s got a great voice and sense of melody. It’s nice, soothing stuff.

Zee has sort of burst onto the scene in the last couple months, since this show was originally booked. Her next gig is at 9:30 Club in DC, she’s performing at Bonnaroo next week, and her music is now featured on a Wal-Mart commercial (what?). So anyway, we’re rather lucky to have this one at the Tea Bazaar (and not for $12 at Gravity Lounge, which it probably could have been).

Things start at 9:30PM with Uncle Jemima and will be $7.

Oh, and tune in right now to hear her performing/interviewing in studio on 106.1 The Corner (doing a rad slow acoustic version of Slow Hands by Interpol?!).

Oh, and as always on Wednesdays, Jim Waive at Blue Moon. 8PM, no cover, excellence.
