Mister Baby (Megan Huddleston) is playing at the Box tonight instead of Blue Moon. This will be her first show there since she released her widely praised album, which I will sum up here as a nice, gritty slice of virginiana as told by one tough, talented lady. Harrisonburg’s Preacher will start things off and I think this is their first Charlottesville show. I saw some of those boys at Will Oldham last night and they told me how excited they are to make their foray into the ‘ville. From what I have heard of Preacher shows, they encourage the audience to participate as much as possible. Faux hymnals are passed out and everyone sings along like a mock church service. Hopefully that happens tonight. As always: no cover, 10ish, 21+.

Also, Try and Make is hosting a film screening. “How to Draw a Bunny” is not an instructive video but a documentary on Ray Johnson, member of the pop art vanguard. Perhaps someone can comment on when and how much. The Try & Make Screening is on Tuesday, not today.

That Try & Make screening looks like it’s on Tuesday rather than today. Just made that edit in the post.
