Teej stuff, Type-a-thon, and The Bridge!

I had an absolute blast doing the 4-hour long James Brown show; I hope y’ll had fun listening to it!  There’s plenty of other great stuff going on at the station today; Don from Wowsville is kicking ass right now with a 60’s psych show called “My Flower is Drippy with the Dew of Your Mind” — after that Brother Jimmy from the Garage Sale is doing  a “Bubblegum Beat” show.  The Bebop is doing a Beatles show at 4pm, Mike and Emily are doing a “International Rock” show at 7, Keicy and Dana are doing the 1989 show at 9pm, there’s a show of Virginia music at 11, and I may stop back in the station at 1am for the Sample Show. It all sounds pretty awesome.

Oh yeah, I should mention that today is both Foxfield and also the Dogwood Parade, so if you’re thinking of driving anywhere today… don’t.  I had to go all the way around the 250 Bypass and through Hogwaller just to get back home from the station…

But if you’re within walking distance downtown, there’s a really cool event going on right now: the Type-A-Thon. Kristin says: Join us for a non-stop TYPE-A-THON from SUNRISE to SUNSET (and the non-stop mac ‘n’ cheese that will accompany said THON) We’re going to have at least 3 typewriters typing away against an endless roll of paper endlessly, producing an epic worthy of the beautiful machines and people that will be spinning said yarn.  No language will be censored. No key will go un-typed.

Sounds grand. There’s also a Jim Waive show at Belrio…

…and the Revel party at The Bridge.  It’s a big fancy fundraising art auction from 8-11pm, with tons of great art for sale (seriously, the show looks great). Sarah White’s playing, there’s gonna be great food and ridiculous entertainments. If you can’t afford the $50 ticket… then just wait until 11pm and you can come to the After-Party. It’s only a $10 ticket, or $20 for the open bar (which if yr planning on getting tipsy, that’s a pretty good deal) and Patrick Critzer is DJing until the early, early hours of the morning.  There’s a big white tent in the Bridge parking lot right now, I’ve stuck my head inside and the whole thing just looks ridiculous and fun. I think it’ll make for an excellent springtime evening…
