and tonight there shall be hip hop

I’m happy to host Hot Chicken at the Box tonight. I first discovered them at last year’s Macrock hip hop showcase. They captured my heart in the basement of Blue Nile and made me glad I didn’t go see Aloha instead (in spite of my deep, shameful nostalgia for the 12th grade.) Needless to say, I am super excited to hear them for the first time since. They’re from Richmond and some of you vinyl seekers may recognize Spencer from the Carytown Plan 9 although I don’t think he works there any more.

Marquis of the Illville Crew and new-ish hip hop posse Burnt Bush will also perform at what turns out to be one of his first shows as a solo artist. Come holler around 10:30 for $0 at the door.
