4 years and running

January 25th, 2009 · 8 Comments · By

I just wanted to chime in and let you know that today is Nailgunmedia.com’s 4th anniversary. I actually started Nailgun on Blogger.com in June 2004, but things didn’t really get going until I transferred it over to its own domain name, on January 25, 2005.

I really can’t express how much  gratitude I feel for everyone who has made this site what it is. Because, really, without all of the readers, this place would be pointless. So, thanks.

Also, I’m beyond happy that James has been holding things down since I left town in July, and I’m sure he will continue to do so. He’s a wonderful person, and I hope you enjoy the knowledge and authoritative voice that he has brought to the site. He really knows his stuff.

Nailgun is my baby, and Charlottesville will always be in my heart, so I hope that this site has many years left to live.

After the break, the very first post on Nailgun.blogspot.com (in all of its possible naive glory) and the first post Nailgunmedia.com.

First Nailgun post ever:

This is the beginning. So, if you’re like me you may be wondering what to do in Charlottesville in the near future. Indie rock or anything related is hard to come by in this hometown of Dave Mathews, so I offer you my best:

-Tonight: Rock’n’roll Tiki Dance Party at the Rose
-Saturday June 12th: Eargasm DJ Dance Night at the Rose
-Saturday June 19th: Skyline Awake, Fire Parade, Da
Bris, and Yes, SOS at the Rose.

First nailgunmedia.com post:

Welcome. I began Nailgun as a blog in the fall of 2004 to provide information about music around Central Virginia. Around the end of the year I became lazy and quit posting things. But now Nailgun is back and hopefully better than ever. I am expanding my subject range to cover both local and general music and arts.

Right now the new site is still in its early stages. Expect a revamped design soon, but check back regularly, as I will post as often as possible.

Four years!?!? I feel old. or is that young?

For those who miss John’s internet writings (which are far more insightful and restrained than my unfocused blatherings), check out his current site here:
