a SOCK HOP! (and three other shows…)

There’s going to be a Sock Hop at McGuffey tonight! It starts at 10pm; the Rock&Roll Cannibals will be playing some old-time rockabilly stuff, and I will be DJing the corniest doo-wop songs, surf instrumentals, and melodramatic girl-group songs in my collection. It’s in McGuffey Studio #11 — I believe they’re requesting a small donation at the door; and it’s a NO ALCOHOL event, which means you may want to hit the bar beforehand if you’re the sort who requires a little social lubrication before you feel like dancing. Also, you get bonus points for dressing appropriately; think “spring prom 1964” for handy reference.

Oh, and if you’re not totally clear on what a sock hop is, this should clarify:

Other things going on tonight which would totally worth seeing if they weren’t on the same night as the sock hop include:

Hezekiah Jones is playing at the Tea House with Chris Kasper;

The Beetnix are playing at IS! (I can’t even remember the last time The Beetnix played);

…and Trees on Fire are having a CD release party at Gravity Lounge.

 Those things will all be good and worthwhile. BUT you should totally come to my sock hop.
