1. Eternal Summers + The Love Language + Ducktails + The Mingsleys at the Tea Bazaar (8 p.m., $8)
Ducktails (a side project of Matthew Mondanile from Real Estate) has just been added to the bill. Their new album reminds me a lot of the Fresh & Only’s latest, Long Slow Dance, or even Lotus Plaza… really solid, guitar-driven indie rock. Eternal Summers are a beloved dream-pop-punk group from Roanoke, VA. Their second album Correct Behavior met with praise from listeners as they expanded their lo-fi sound into something more developed. The Mingsleys open; The Love Language headline.
Please note, the first band starts at 8, so get to the show early!
2. Bella Morte + Lauren Hoffman + Synthetic Division at the Jefferson Theater (8 p.m., $10/$12)
And, because there’s always something more to learn about Charlottesville’s music scene: There’s an article and interview over at C-Ville Weekly about local goth group Bella Morte‘s long and successful career, spanning nearly two decades from 1996 until the present. They’ve recently released a best-of album, and this show is the record’s release party.
