The University Programs Council is hosting a “fireside chat” with contemporary music critic Tom Breihan this evening, in the Newcomb Hall South Meeting Room at 7pm. The WTJU Rock Dept explains it best: “recent charlottesville transplant and long-time pitchfork writer (recently he moved over to stereogum) tom breihan is coming to UVA. Mr. Breihan is a senior staff writer at Stereogum, a former staff writer at Pitchfork Media, and a contributor to GQ. Come hear Mr. Breihan discuss his distinguished career as a music and television critic, share insights about his field and answer your questions. if you’re wondering if you’ve seen him at any shows in the area recently, dude is like 6’6″ or so. really sticks out.”
Afterwards, head on down to the C&O for Radio Bistro with Adam and Thomas; I know I’ve said this before, but this might be your last chance to hear them spin together for a while, as Thomas is about to go on a 2-month tour as a pinch-hitter for some out-of-town band, and Adam is now (ostensibly) up in New York. As always, Radio Bistro runs from 10pm-2am, it’s 21+, it’s not a dance party, and there’s no cover charge.
