Magnolia house party tonight

Tonight’s show at the Magnolia house should be a lot of fun; it’s a varied and interesting bill, and definitely worth checking out.

Dylan Mulshine is someone I’m sure you’re all familiar with at this point; he’s played dozens upon dozens of shows as the Rhythm Bandit, with Krull and the second version of Articulate Chewbacca, and he’s often sat in with other acts like Bear War and Andrew Cedermark, as well as booking tons of great shows over the past year or two. Dylan’s current solo project (at least, to the extent that I can keep up with what he’s up to) is Teen Dreams. Dylan has recently parted ways with the Magnolia house, and if the rumors are to be believed, will shortly be moving to Cleveland; so not only is this perhaps something of a “farewell” show, but it’s also Dylan’s final concert as a teenager (yes, that kid is still only 19.) So it may or may not be the last thing he plays in town, but it’s definitely a good opportunity to hear him perform while you still have a chance.

He’s playing with Mutwawa, a Richmond duo — I’ve never heard them before, their members are also in some great acts like Headmolt, Bermuda Triangles, and Suppression. Actually, one of our brand-new Nailgun correspondents attempted to interview these guys to promote the show, but we never heard back from them. Anyhow, Dylan says they are “dirty electronic aliens harnessing mayan power.

Also on the bill is MC², aka one of the former members of Prince Rama, and two guys named Ryley Walker and Daniel Bachman, whom Dylan describes as “members of “sacred harp” : intsrumental guitar duo a la John Fahey and Leo Kottke.” Lastly, I will also be performing as DJ Hummingbird Feeder tonight; since it’s a house party where I’m sharing the bill with some weirdos, I’ll definitely be leaning towards the heavier end of the spectrum this evening.

It starts around 9pm; directions to the Magnolia house can be obtained by inquiring of knowledgeable or savvy local individuals, and I hope to see you there!

If you miss Dylan tonight, which you shouldn’t, he will be playing drums for Mss. when we open for Six Organs of Admittance at the Southern next Wednesday. Taste it.

Technically, James, it’s the nTelos Wireless Magnolia House now, fyi.

Does anyone think the toilet paper restocks itself at that place?
