Meanwhile, the Tea Bazaar is hosting three acts tonight. Headlining tonight is The Anatomy of Frank, Kyle Woolard’s electro-pop project. This’ll be the solo version, which couldn’t p0ssibly be any more stripped down than the full band version. It’s a pretty remarkable feat of musicianship, as Kyle bounces around between an absurd number of instruments, from synthesizer to toy piano, all layered atop one another. He also brings a cool light show with him, making the overall production seem a little more arena-rock than Tea House.
Opening up is Stephanie Nilles, who has been here a number of times and universally charmed everybody. Regina Spektor is an obvious comparison — biting, witty, piano-driven songwriting and, a trained classical pianist, she’s got incredible instrumental chops. And leading off the night is Feral Foster, who I honestly don’t know much about, but folks have been telling me they’re excited he’s playing here, so that’s always a good sign. 8:30PM, $5.
