Jenny & Johnny / Magnolia Extravaganza

At the Jefferson Theater tonight, we have Jenny (Lewis) and Johnny (Johnathan Rice):

From the looks of their recent set lists, they’re playing a ton of songs from their new album, I’m Having Fun Now, plus an old Jenny Lewis song or two (this set list has a song from Acid Tongue, so I wouldn’t expect any Rilo Kiley or Johnathan Rice solo stuff, but what’s wrong with that?). $16 tickets are still on sale.

Opening is The Love Language, who you may remember as a band I like a lot. Can’t wait to finally see them, they’re on at 8pm (doors at 7pm).

Also, over at the Magnolia house, is a show I’m equally excited for. The ever-evolving and always fascinating project of D.B. Benson, D.B.B. Plays Cups, is reportedly playing precisely from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. They will then be followed by Richmond’s Herschel Stratego, and finally the “anti-folk” act Little Teeth, whom the Magnolia folks have been raving about for weeks (their last Magnolia show sometime last year was described to me as a “beam of light coming down from the heavens.”) Bring some cash for the touring bands.
