Everybody looked really good this weekend but I have to give a special shoutout to Nicolas Liivak from Horsefang/Mass Sabbath for being totally unrecognizable. Way to go, Nicolas.
Tonight, on the eve of the gubernatorial election, one has appealing options. Jacob wrote about two K Records bands, LAKE and The Curious Mystery, here. They’re starting pretty early at the Tea House at 8pm and it costs $6.
Around 10pm at The Box, a few of us have come together to shape up an EVENT. Firstly, Matt Leech and Thomas Dean will be LIVE screenprinting on your thing. That’s right, your thing or even things if you have more than one. Be sure to bring a tee shirt or some paper. Also, my dear friend John Ruscher happens to be in town and he will be playing lead guitar with DBB Plays Cups. You all might remember John and Tom Benner comprised DBB’s original line-up and their northern migration made way for the exciting cast rotation we now know and love. Tonight the band also includes Andrew Cedermark on drums, Max Dreyer on moog, and Taylor (whose last name escapes me at this early hour) on bass. DJ Hummingbird will take the reins after their set. Should be fun! It’s free but suggested that you tip your screenprinters.

the Paramount is also showing “Back to the Future” at 7 and 9pm.
I’ll go on record as saying “Back the Future” is my favorite Hollywood film of the 80’s — it’s immaculately structured, it has a perfect self-awareness of it’s era — heck, even the use of diagetic / non-diagetic music is brilliant. It’s highly rewatchable, infinitely quotable, and also the only film where you can see the peculiar and frankly bizarre acting styles of Micheal J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Crispin Glover all in one place.
