nice music, nice folks at the Garage tonight

First things first, here’s the last few weeks’ WTJU playlists on the Rock Department blog…

Now that that’s out of the way, let me remind you of a pleasant show at The Garage tonight. Kate says: Our Los Angeles based friend, Emily Lacy (minimalist folk, beautiful voice) will be headlining with special guest Ilo Mar (Neil Young inspired, americana/experimental/folk). Also, one of our favorite local musicians, Jameson Zimmer, will be openining!  It will surely be a night full of well-written and refreshingly simple songs. The show is set to begin at 8:00pm sharp rain or shine.

So that should be a nice show.  Emily is actually a friend of mine from college, and it’s always pleasant to see her over on the East Coast; she did a show at the Tea House last November that was really fun (at which Jameson played as well).  And I haven’t actually seen a set of Jameson’s since he came back to town, but I did see the last one before he left, which sort of hilariously devolved into a stand-up comedy routine, with cartoons. It was pretty priceless.

So come to the Garage tonight and check it out! It’s free, and I think Greg’s suitcase show is still up (and lots of cool art pieces are still available).

    oh yeah, Melamine is Gerrit Rossler’s group, I believe… been meaning to check them out.

    Jacob was, I believe, out in Sugar Hollow, where cell-phone signals are nonexistant.

    { … and for those who don’t know, Jon means “12th St Taphouse” when he says “the Tappy.”}

    How’d the thing go? the Garage was nice. Emily’s set was great, and Jameson gave a brief motivational speech (with illustrations of pre-Cambrian insects)
